Best Infrared Thermometers 2021: The best of the best.
The absolute best no contact thermometers available now. Tested for home or work use (updated April 2021)
A new entry has taken the top spot in our best thermometer ranking, and you can find out below the device that has taken the title of the best smart thermometer you can buy right now. One thing the best thermometers all have in common is that they can perform highly accurate readings in a very quick time, without the need for calibration
During our review process, we take into account the accuracy, features, battery life, spec, price and more for each thermometer, rank it against the competition and enter it into the list you’ll find below.
1. Healthline Pro Thermometer
Our best rated infrared thermometer in the world right now.
In a league of its own. The highest accuracy we’ve ever seen on an infrared thermometer. Healthline keeps everything simple and to the point. If you’ve been overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options available on the more expensive thermometers – most of which is not suited or needed for the everyday user, then Healthline Pro Thermometer keeps everything straight forward and to the point and it does everything with complete accuracy – so much so it gave like for like performance with a hospital machine used on the operating tables costing a fortune. Easy to understand sharp screen and one button operation makes this the top choice. The screen will be coloured either red, amber or green to give a quick understanding of what’s going on.

Best Price: £64.89
The DT8806 has been around for awhile now with good reason. It provides reliable results every time it’s used. The DT8806 is a great home thermometer and is perfect for using it on a baby or to check a crowd for covid. Like the Healthline the device can store previous readings in its memory. Up to 30 readings can be saved and viewed which is handy if you’re tracking your own temperature and can see over an extended amount of time any changes recorded.
2. Pharmica Non Contact
Old and trusted brand.
Best Price: £67.99
Pharmica has delved into the home infrared thermometers category by focusing on the popular non contact type, just like all the others in this list. And while the Pharmica is an excellent first product, it suffers from an aging Bluetooth chipset and mediocre battery life, costing Pharmica a higher position in our list.
2. PPE Online Thermometer
Small and functional
Best Price: £95.94
PPEonline build on the iconic blue design with a slightly new shape and capabilities. With a promise of a 1 second time to read temperature all was looking good with this Thermometer. Unfortunately the readings have been inconsistent against our base machine and the price is quite high for average performance.
5. iHealth PT2L
Options for tinkerers
Best Price: £44.99
This looked like a great thermometer on paper at a fantastic price. The style is unique with an ergonomic design and dark LCD display. We found the setup to be a little awkward and had to spend a bit of time reading the instructions. Once setup we discovered you need to be very close to the person, almost being non contact for an accurate reading. This goes against what being non contact is. The accuracy was OK and if you don’t mind getting very close to the person and on a budget then this monitor could be for you.
