Where to buy the Healthline Pro Thermometer in the UK
The best infrared thermometer for accuracy, ease of use, and price point come from a brand that has only been around for a few years in the UK. But don’t let that scare you off, as this thermometer is easily one of the best we have ever tested. It provided like for like performance against a hospital machine used on the operating tables costing a small fortune. We used this machine as the benchmark to compare the monitors in this list against.

So what makes the Healthline Pro the best all around contactless thermometer?
The best thermometer available today, period. The Healthline Pro was designed from the ground up to be the most accurate and easy to use infrared thermometer for the home. It can take a highly accurate reading in less than a second. It’s not overloaded with fancy extras which are simply not needed for home use. It does the job it has set out to do in an extremely accurate manner. It uses a one button operation method, simply point and click. That’s it, nothing else to do. It uses a screen which is clutter free and a joy to read. Many of these newer monitors overwhelm the user with a complicated screen and multiple settings.
Incredible Accuracy. The problem with many home based medical devices is that the accuracy can be questionable. You want a straight forward result that you can understand and be confident the machine has reported it correctly, otherwise what’s the point?. Tested against our hospital machine the Healthline Pro was the only thermometer to consistanly match the results time after time, using multiple participants. It gives complete and total peace of mind, especially if you’re needing to report your results back to your doctor or be sure of a reading and allowing people entry given how important it is to isolate potential COVID outbreaks.
Holds 60 Readings. If you’re tracking your progress or wondering what your readings are throughout the day, the Healthline Pro will save your results (and one other persons) for up to 60 readings. This is extremely handy as you can look back at the time and date and see exactly what your readings were throughout an extended time period.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Healthline is now available with £20 off this month (while stocks last) A scheme to help struggling businesses stay open for the pandemic. Healthline have knocked £20 off their normal price of £59.99 bringing the thermometer to just £39.99 at the time of writing.
UK-based customer support. We have been continuously disappointed with thermometer companies in the past, even from medical giants like Omron. Part of that disappointment comes with poor or absent customer service. We tested Healthline on several occasions with questions and every time received proper replies within an hour. That demonstrates commitment to the UK market and contributes greatly to our award of Editor’s Pick.
Where to buy the DT8806 in the UK
If you aren’t price sensitive, the DT8806 may be the brand for you. This home infrared thermometer comes with fewer accessories than the Healthline, but offer a more generalist approach to the format. Extremely accurate and straight to the point, just what’s needed.
Why the DT8806 makes the list of best contactless thermometers in the UK
Very good accuracy and simple to use. The DT8806 has been around for awhile now with good reason. It provides reliable results every time it’s used. The DT8806 is a great home thermometer and is perfect for using it on a baby or to check a crowd for covid.
Excellent marks for accuracy. The overall measurements matched the hospital grade machine we’ve been testing against quite well. We tested with multiple participants throughout different periods of the day. Close to like for like performance with the hospital machine.
Holds 30 readings. Like the Healthline the device can store previous readings in its memory. Up to 30 readings can be saved and viewed which is handy if you’re tracking your own temperature and can see over an extended amount of time the changes.
Where to buy the Pharmica Non Contact in the UK
Pharmica has delved into the home thermometers category by focusing on the popular non contact type, just like all the others in this list. And while the Pharmica is an excellent first product, it suffers from an aging Bluetooth chipset and mediocre battery life, costing Pharmica a higher position in our list.
Why Pharmica gets our approval for the home
Great accuracy comes at a cost. While Pharmica has engineered a product that is indeed worthy for home use, it does come at a cost. Reduced battery life and Bluetooth 4.1 instead of 5.0 hurt the product and age it to the first generation of monitors.
Comes with huge array of options. You’re able to hook your mobile device up to this monitor and tinker with the myriad of settings available. It’s handy to look back at the saved measurements but setting up can be a little tasking, especially if you’re not used to pairing devices to your phone and network. If this is something you enjoy doing then the benefits are fantastic and can trump most on this list.
Built for home/office use. While Pharmica are known worldwide for their outstanding medical equipment, their folly into home based readers is a relatively new one. Whilst touted as for home use it can be a little overwhelming to setup, especially if pairing it with your phone to view the readings.
Runners-up: Best Infrared Thermometers
There are many, many infrared thermometers in the UK market. And while we attempt to test as many as possible for our readers, some units simply don’t make the cut. Here’s a quick peek at monitors that didn’t make the list.
PPEonline build on the iconic blue design with a slightly new shape and capabilities. With a promise of a 1 second time to read temperature all was looking good with this Thermometer. Unfortunately the readings have been inconsistent against our base machine and the price is quite high for average performance.
This looked like a great monitor on paper at a fantastic price. The style is unique with an ergonomic design and dark LCD display. We found the setup to be a little awkward and had to spend a bit of time reading the instructions. Once setup we discovered you need to be very close to the person, almost being non contact for an accurate reading. This goes against what being non contact is. The accuracy was OK and if you don’t mind getting very close to the person and on a budget then this monitor could be for you.
