The Best Humidifiers in 2021: Post-Lockdown Life UK Edition [Updated]

Louise Stamford, Editor

With the soaring rise in popularity of humidifiers in the past few years we thought we’d check out the best currently available online.  Humidifier therapy adds moisture to the air to prevent dryness that can cause irritation in many parts of the body. Humidifiers can be particularly effective for treating dryness of the skin, nose, throat, and lips. They can also ease some of the symptoms caused by the flu or common cold.

It can be overwhelming to choose the correct humidifier, as there’s so much choice online.  There’s also many of which don’t do the job intended and not fit for purpose. Thankfully we’ve put together the top 5 models you can order online today.

Where to buy the Healthline Home Humidifier in the UK

The best humidifier for effectiveness, ease of use, and price point come from a brand that has only been around for a few years in the UK. But don’t let that scare you off, as this home humidifier unit is easily one of the best we have ever tested. It provided like for like performance against machines costing three times as much, proving you don’t have to pay silly prices to get an amazing experience keeping your house safe and the people within.

So what makes the Healthline Home the best all around humidifier?

The best humidifier for home use, period. The Healthline Home was designed from the ground up to be the most effective and easy to use humidifier for the home. Unlike some humidifiers, the Healthline Home lets you choose between 2 mist settings with distinct health benefits. The warm mist humidifies the room 25% more quickly and helps kill bacteria in the water, while the cool mist keeps your sinuses and skin hydrated during the summer

Compact but suitable for large spaces. Large 5.5L capacity allows up to 55 hours of continuous use(under low speed cold mist) with one full fill; With a super high mist output up to 550ml/hr, The Humidifier can easily cover a bedroom and living room, even the whole house up to 70 m².

Portable. With it’s low weight and compact design, it makes for easy carrying from one room to another. Many will argue a larger size is better, but unless you’re living in a warehouse space we do not recommend anything over 6L for the home, as it’s simply overkill for each area/room.  The added benefit is the ability of being lightweight and portable, which allows multiple room use.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Healthline is now available with £60 off this February (while stocks last)  Healthline have knocked £60 off their normal price of £159.99 bringing the humidifier to just £99.99 at the time of writing.

UK-based customer support. We have been continuously disappointed with luxury foot massagers in the past, even from medical giants like Philipps. Part of that disappointment comes with poor or absent customer service. We tested Healthline on several occasions with questions and every time received proper replies within an hour. That demonstrates commitment to the UK market and contributes greatly to our award of Editor’s Pick.

Boneco U300: Solid performer £166.80 at

Where to buy the Boneco U300 in the UK

A great user-friendly approach to Humidifiers. You can fill the appliance with water in place from the top. The control knob lets you configure the desired output level and immediately experience how refreshing humidified air feels. In addition, you can create your individual comfortable climate thanks to the fragrance container. Using the tank window and the low water level indicator, you can immediately tell when the water needs to be refilled. The U300 can be cleaned easily and integrated accessories help keep the water fresh.

Why the U300 makes the list of the best home humidifiers in the UK

Good overall quality from trusted brand. Boneco have been around awhile now in the humidifier space and they produce high quality products and the U300 is no exception.  Our only gripe is delivery time can be 2-3 weeks.

Excellent marks for effectiveness. The U300 is fantastic at humidifying large spaces much like the Healthline.  At 60m² this will cover even the grandest of rooms and has the ability to run for three days straight using the fine mist setting.

Essential oils. You can also use essential oils with the u300 which is extremly handy extra.  We did fine the mist to come out much thicker than anticipated when using some aroma therapy oils.

Philips Humidifier HU4803 – £125.60 at

Our Rating:

Where to buy the Philips HU480 in the UK

The Philips air humidifier fights dry air with precision, distributes humidified air evenly throughout the room and offers 99% lower dispersal of bacteria compared to ultrasonic models.  A little smaller Litre size than we would like, but this compact unit sure packs a punch.  Recommended.

Why the HU480 gets our approval for the home

3 stages of use. It offers an advanced three-stage evaporation system with NanoCloud technology. In stage 1, the absorbent filter of the humidifier traps large particles such as human or pet hair and dust when it absorbs the air. In stage 2, the advanced evaporation system with NanoCloud technology humidifies the air by adding water molecules and prevents the spread of bacteria and dirt. In stage 3, the humidifier expels healthy moist air at a constant rate without creating a water mist in your home.

Easy to use. After a quick read of their quick start guide, you’ll know exactly what to do and how you’ll want to enjoy your humidifier.  We feel ease of use is an important feature customers should be looking for, and Philips gets this point just right.

Built for home use.  Philips have designed this from the ground up to be used in the home, compact and portable.  We do feel it could of been a little larger as you may find youself changing the water more than the others on the list.  If this is not a problem or you only have a small space, then the Philips could be the one for you.

Runners-up: Best Home Humidifiers

There are many, many home based foot massagers in the UK market. And while we attempt to test as many as possible for our readers, some units simply don’t make the cut. Here’s a quick peek at devices that didn’t make the list.

Our Rating:

A basic humidifier with very little in terms of features, but good enough for a basic job in a small space. The CM100 Disinfectant Misting Machine is perfect for homes, offices, retail, hospitality, care homes and more; this compact table top humidifier when used with Covilyte Disinfect, disperses a completely harmless dry mist which sanitises the surrounding air that you breathe and looks stylish yet unobtrusive. The unit can be set to work continuously, by humidity or on a timer.

Beurer LR330  – £269.99 at

Our Rating:

We had high hopes for this premium device.  Beurer usually prduce some of the best products available, and this was thought to be our number one spot.  The LR330 is both a humidifier and air purifier in one and can handle arome therapy oils to purify the air.  The problem is the unit cannot do both tasks well enough to be considered.  It’s large enough to cover a full sized room but does not disperse the mist well enough for the coverage.  We are not sure why such design choices were made and sadly this can not make our list.
